Seeking to increase its depth in the backfield, the Cowboys made cornerback Nolan Carroll the team’s first free agent signing of the 2017 National Football League (NFL) off-season. A veteran of seven NFL seasons and a former fifth round pick of the Miami Dolphins, Carroll was given a three-year, $10 million contract by Dallas with $3 million guaranteed.

The 30 year old started all 16 games for the Philadelphia Eagles last season and recorded 41 tackles, 10 defended passes, one forced fumble, and one interception. He recorded his best season in 2013 as a member of the Dolphins when he made three interceptions and two quarterback sacks. Throughout his seven-year career, Carroll has 221 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles, and eight interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown.

Outside of his professional life, James Amps likes to engage in his favorite hobbies, including reading.

Science has shown that reading as a hobby yields substantial benefits for the health of the mind and body. Researchers have noted that individuals who regularly participated in mentally stimulating activities in early and later life have a significantly lower incidence of mental decline. Similarly, some studies have shown that reading may have a positive impact on short-term memory.

Physically, reading can promote relaxation, resulting in lower levels of stress. According to a study published in 2009, highly-engaged reading may reduce stress levels by almost 70 percent, regardless of the book’s subject matter. In addition, there is scientific evidence that suggests reading can make people more empathetic to the plights of others.

James Amps is the managing partner for AMPS International, LLC in Pembroke Pines, Florida. When he is not busy with work, James Amps makes time to go bowling.

Bowling has a number of benefits. It is a simple game to learn, does not require training at an early age in order to become proficient, burns calories, and is a great way to relieve stress and develop social bonds.

Taking down all the pins (or as many as possible) demands sophisticated hand-eye coordination. The body’s motion and the moment of ball release must be coordinated to send the ball down a 60-foot lane to a precise point. When only a few pins are left standing after a first roll, the target point is very small and even more precise aim is required. The mental awareness to develop a solid strategy and carry it out forces players to keep their skills sharp.
